Bio

Deborah Dobbin has been practicing law for over 25 years focusing on bankruptcy law, corporate restructuring under Chapter 11, creditor rights, and out-of-court workouts. Ms. Dobbin has represented a diverse range of clients in numerous cases under chapters 7, 11, and 13 of the federal Bankruptcy Code, in both the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. In addition to representing companies and individuals filing for bankruptcy protection, Ms. Dobbin has represented bankruptcy trustees and individual creditors.

Ms. Dobbin handles all types of bankruptcy litigation including adversary proceedings where she has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving preferential transfers and fraudulent conveyances, and contested matters such as motions for relief from the automatic stay and Rule 2004 examinations. Ms. Dobbin’s practice areas also involve commercial litigation in both the federal and state courts of New York, appeals in both the federal and state courts of New York, and real property litigation including partition actions, representing court-appointed receivers in foreclosure actions and individuals at real estate closings.

Ms. Dobbin is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the United States Supreme Court. She clerked for a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of New York from 1999 to 2002 and was formerly with Sanders, Gutman & Brodie, P.C. from 1995 to 1999.

Ms. Dobbin received a B.A. from Tufts University in 1992 cum laude and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1995 with honors. She is the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for legal writing, Best Brief Award, and the Bureau of National Affairs Award. When not practicing law, she is honing her skills on the tennis court and is an avid golfer.
